Manchester United is on fire

Manchester United again at the top of Premier-League table with Manchester City. After 2-0 win against Southampton the Red Devils have 6 points (the game was played on Friday, 19/08/16).

In that game we saw the first Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s double for United. But even this fact was not of the primary importance. Friday was Paul Pogba's day. When teams were walking to the field before the game you just couldn't miss the Frenchman happy face. Yes, he's back home, sweet home. In the first seconds of the game he was extremely nervous and lost the ball. Southampton's counter-attack was very dangerous, but fortunately for the most expensive player there wasn't goal. After 10 minutes Pogba started to enjoy the Old Trafford support. He was fantastically good during all the game with his honed skills and long distance runners with the ball. He had the great opportunity to score the first goal after his return to the club. But his shot after Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s pass was near the post.

A little bit about the other moments of that game.

David de Gea did his first clean sheet for this season. To be honest, he hadn't so much work. Why? Because of the great defensive players. Finally Manchester United was playing with such a confidence. In the last 3 seasons after Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement (in Moyes and van Gaal time) you couldn't see any moves in defense without any piece of panic. Jose Mourinho's first signing in this summer Eric Bailly (in his first 2 official games for club he was man of the match!) proved he can be the leader defender in team for a long time. Antonio Valencia as right defender - just finding for United, Luke Shaw - please be careful and won't be injured, you can be top left defender for England.

Midfielders. After that awful Marouane Fellaini’s pass to Jamie Vardy in Community Shield many of United fans wanted his transfer, but Mourinho continues to believe in Belgian. And he was very crucial in his decisions against Southampton. Anthony Martial and Juan Mata in attacking wings were not so superb, but in Martial plays we could see any progress (anyway he is not last year Martial, yet).

Strikers. Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic – maybe the dream couple for Manchester United. During all his career Rooney had played with many good strikers (van Nistelrooy, Forlan, Larsson, Saha, Owen, Tevez, Berbatov, Chicharito, van Persie). Don't know why but I feel this duet with "the new God of Manchester" Ibrahimovic could be the best. Anyway the new season with new manager and new big players for Manchester United just begun and fans should realize they don’t have to dream about many things.
